01 — Who it is for

Abnormal-load networks: build, check and follow your routes.

ConvoisOnline makes the tools needed to build, study and follow a route available to everyone, whatever the user's trade and level of experience.

Each one builds their own route, or receives a shared one.

Free, no credit card required: 5 route builds included. See the plans

The application is reserved for abnormal-load transport professionals.

The Vitrolles → Gap route drawn on the official TE72 abnormal-load network, in the ConvoisOnline application
Vitrolles (ZI des Estroublans) → Gap, category TE72: 229 km, 97% of the route on the TE network.

02 — Building the route

A routing engine that gives priority to the official TE networks.

Enter the start and the destination — an address or a company —, add waypoints if you need them, then fill in the convoy profile or pick the network category directly, from 1TE to TE120. The convoy's characteristics determine the TE network category; the route is then computed giving priority to that network.

Placing a point exactly where it belongs

A press on the map positions a start, a destination or a waypoint precisely.

Map menu: set this point as the start, as a waypoint or as the destination

03 — Checking the route

Structures, roadworks under way and points to watch.

Points to watch are placed as markers along the route: recorded structures, roadworks under way, community reports.

The technical sheet of a structure

Clearance height, tonnage, width, length: when the readings disagree, a fixed order of sources decides — first the most recent ConvoisOnline community survey, then the IGN Abnormal-Load reference dataset (BD TE), then OpenStreetMap. Where no survey or BD TE value is reliably matched, the lowest of the known values is used. Every dimension carries its source, official — the IGN Abnormal-Load reference dataset — or declarative — OpenStreetMap, the ConvoisOnline community. The road manager's requirements, taken from the BD TE reference dataset, are shown alongside.

Record of the A51 overbridge at Aubignosc: clearance height 6.50 m, official source and DIRMED road manager's requirement
A51 overbridge, Aubignosc — official source, clearance height 6.50 m; road manager's requirement (DIRMED): maximum height 6.50 m. On this trip: 104 recorded structures and 4 reported worksites.
  • Roadworks under way

Road closed, size restriction, narrowing, shuttle working, worksite: the events come from Bison Futé, from DiaLog and from approved driver reports. They are refreshed every day and shown when they fall within 200 metres of the route.

  • What the community adds

Heights measured in the field, sensitive spots, roadworks, road closures: every approved report joins the map, and earns a Maillon for whoever filed it.

This data is indicative. Checking it, and judging whether the convoy can pass, are the user's responsibility. It replaces neither the applicable authorisations nor the prior survey of the route.

Dimensions, records and requirements from Essentiel upwards.

04 — Keeping, sharing, following

Keeping the route and getting it ready for the road.

  • My routes

Save a route, adapt it, reuse it, share it with a named person, by e-mail and read-only. Discovery: up to two saved routes at a time, kept for ten days. Essentiel: four new saves over a rolling thirty days, each kept for thirty days. Expert and Fleet: up to 400 saved routes per account, with no expiry.

  • PDF summary

    Expert and Fleet

Network category, route, distance, structures with their status and their source, road manager's requirements. Every page is watermarked with the name of whoever produced it and contains no reusable map data. The summary does not replace sharing a route.

First page of the Vitrolles → Gap route preparation summary, watermarked
Summary of the Vitrolles → Gap route: 229 km, 97% on the TE network, 4 reported worksites.
  • Android navigation

The banner announces what the structure is, then the distance in large type. Spoken announcements come at 1,000 metres, then at 100 metres; the direction to take is announced at 200 metres. Leaving and rejoining the route are both signalled; off the route, the application keeps watch within a radius of 1.5 kilometres. Distances and alerts are computed on the device.

Route taken offline: the route, the map 5 km either side, navigation and announcements of the structures on the route work with no network. Watching around the convoy and refreshing alerts need a connection.

    iPhone version in testing.
